FOUNDER

As the founder and creative force behind our brand, I draw inspiration from the eclectic tapestry of styles that define the vibrant neighborhoods of my hometown, New York City. Growing up amid the hustle and bustle of the city, I marveled at the diversity of fashion that unfolded before my eyes, from the timeless elegance of the Upper East Side and the sophisticated glamour of 5th Avenue to the authentic street style of Queens and Brooklyn. Each neighborhood contributed its unique flavor to the ever-evolving fashion scene, and I found beauty in the contrast and unity of it all.

THE IDEA

The idea for Velon Co was born out of my desire to encapsulate the essence of these varied influences, blending the sophistication of uptown with the urban charm of downtown. Our collections reflect the versatility and dynamism that characterize the women of New York City, who effortlessly navigate the dichotomy of high-end fashion and street style. Additionally, the brand pays homage to my familial roots of Jamaica and growing up immersed in the dancehall culture of the 80s, infusing our designs with the energy, boldness, and vibrant colors that defined that era. Each piece tells a story, weaving together the rich cultural tapestry of my New York upbringing and the spirited rhythm of Jamaica.
